I’m sure you already know how quickly things change in digital and social media marketing; it can be difficult for the everyday person to keep track. Lucky for you, that you have me: your friendly personal Strategic Marketing Consultant and Copywriter!
A few years ago, I wrote a guidebook about many elements of social media marketing, and it also included a list of free or low cost tools that I use to make my digital marketing pop. Surprisingly, that list is not outdated, and many of those apps, services, and online software have been improved. However, there are many other tools that I’d love to add to that list. You can find them below!
Social Media Scheduler
Later- Of course there are dozens of schedulers you can use, however, I love Later, because they are constantly looking at how they can offer more to their subscribers. You can now even schedule Insta stories with Later. Whaaaaaattttt?!? I know, right?!?
CRM, Project Management, Invoice Processing
So many business owners ask me if they should allow clients to pay via CashApp and other payment processing apps, and here’s the legal and business answer…only use the business version of these apps. I know, I know! If you use the business version, it’s not free and there are percentages and fees to be paid, however, that is the cost of doing business, and those fees are tax deductible. I know as small business owners, we want to be as accommodating to our customers and definitely friendly on our pockets, however, when it comes to finances, you want to make sure to cross every “t” and dot every “i”. Using a business/professional payment processor allows you better tracking and storage opportunities, which is important because you can see how much you’re actually making, and comes in handy during tax time. Your clients also feel like you have a real bonafide business, the more professional you present yourself and all of your processes. Here are some of my suggestions…
Dubsado– an amazing CRM and project management tool that you can use as a solopreneur or even with a team. Send invoices, get paid, track prospects and clients, log interactions, book meetings, and more.
Quickbooks- a great accounting software and app, that helps you to keep track of all of your finances, including, mileage, send invoices, receive payment, and keep track of your balance sheet
Business Bank Account- you of course need a bank account to link all of these wonderful apps to. I would absolutely suggest a business bank account to keep everything organized and together, and it also protects you as the business owner if everything is done through your business account.
In late 2018, Dubsado added the ability to have clients and prospects book appointments through their platform, however, I haven’t even had a chance to sit down and figure it all out, and I’ve already paid for another appointment scheduler. Dubsado is low cost and definitely worth the investment, however, if you’re not ready for it, then I would strong suggest Calendly. You can link Calendly to a website and you can also send links to your clients/prospects to have them book anything from discovery calls to coaching calls, you can even send invoices for services.
Custom Link Designer/Link Shortener
If you’re not ready to invest in your own custom domain name, use landing pages, or you want to customize a link, I strongly suggest Bitly. Bitly allows you to not allow customize links, but it also provides tracking metrics so that you can see how clients are accessing your site and how many views you are receiving. This tool is even great if your actual website domain is very long, and you want to shorten it down to something that is still on brand for you.
Once again there are dozens of digital storage options, but I am really enjoying Google Drive, and the best part is that it is completely free. You can share files with a team or even your audience like I just did above.
This year, Instagram stories is where it’s at! Consumers are increasingly wanting to connect with brands and feel like they are part of the growth of the brand and they know the creators, products, and services. Instagram stories is a big way to connect with potential customers and give them the behind the scenes every day look at your operations. Also, there are several apps being developed just to help your stories stand out from everyone else.
-InShot is an app that helps you to create photo collages, edit videos with amazing music and special effects,
-DU Recorder is a screen capture app that helps you to record or take a picture of your screen
-Pixlr is a great photo app that makes it easy to create highlight photo covers and much more
What have you been using to make your brand pop online?! I could always use some new tools! Are you going to use any of these tools and suggestions? Share with us below, because sharing is caring!
